Tabletop Exercise

Space ISAC Crisis Simulation Tabletop Exercise

Securing Space Systems Architecture Under Multi-Vector Threat

Join Space ISAC for a scenario-driven tabletop exercise examining real-world threats to space systems architecture across all segments, from ground infrastructure to on-orbit assets. Participants work through security situations that challenge detection, operational decision-making, and cross-sector coordination under pressure.

Commercial operators, government stakeholders, and space and cybersecurity leaders explore information sharing, response strategies, and architectural resilience. No technical systems required.

What you’ll work through
  • Evaluate detection and response visibility across space, ground, and user segments during active incidents
  • Explore how commercial and government partners share actionable information in real time, and where friction emerges
  • Test decision-making thresholds for public disclosure, regulatory reporting, and mission continuation under escalating conditions
  • Surface single points of failure across ground infrastructure, command and control, and launch operations
  • Capture lessons learned to inform Space ISAC community guidance and industry standards
Who should participate
Commercial Space OperatorsSatellite operators, ground segment providers, launch service operators
Government & MilitaryDoD, intelligence community, civil agencies with space equities
Cybersecurity LeadersCISOs, security architects, incident responders with space sector ties
Space Technology ProvidersManufacturers, integrators, and vendors across the space supply chain

Deep Space Mine Hacking Exercise

A Satellite Cyber-Theft Tabletop Exercise

Deep Space, Mine! puts your table in command of a realistic space mission: ground segment, link segment, and the bird itself, just as signs of compromise begin to surface. Across 90 fast-moving minutes, your group decides what to investigate, what to escalate, which risks to accept, and how far to go to protect the mission.

There is no script and no single right answer. Each choice changes what happens next, so no two tables will make the same calls. No hands-on-keyboard skills required.

The calls you’ll have to make
Offense

“Can I red-team an operational satellite and, if so, are these the droids I’m looking for?”

Monitoring

“To SIEM or not to SIEM on orbit?”

Threat Hunting

“Should you threat hunt where no LAN has gone before?”

Patch Management

“Patch the bird or accept the risk?”

Incident Response

“Do you pay the space pirate’s ransom?”

Who should participate
SOC & Security AnalystsDetection, monitoring, and threat hunting practitioners
Red & Blue Team OperatorsOffensive and defensive practitioners weighing risk vs. access
Space Mission & Ops TeamsGround segment, flight operations, and mission assurance staff
Government & MilitaryDoD, intelligence community, and civil agency teams with space equities
Incident Response LeadersLeaders who own the response when a ransom demand arrives
Space Technology ProvidersManufacturers, integrators, and vendors across the space supply chain

Operation Blindspot Tabletop Exercise with BSI Germany

Developed with the Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik

What happens when the services you depend on are still there, but you can no longer trust them?

In Operation Blindspot, you’ll step into the role of a crisis response team within German government agencies as a fast-moving incident unfolds across interconnected space and ground systems. Working with limited information, you’ll have to assess what is happening, decide what can still be trusted, and determine how to respond.

The scenario stays under wraps until the exercise begins. No technical or cybersecurity background is required.

Resilient Space Systems: A Standardized Method for Identifying Minimum Security Requirements

How Much Security Does a Space System Need? In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn a standardized approach for turning mission needs into minimum cybersecurity requirements. Through real-world examples and a group exercise, you’ll work through how security requirements are identified, applied, and strengthened for systems with higher protection or accreditation needs.

The goal: a clearer, more practical way to define the security a space system needs to operate with confidence.

The Long-tail of Data Compromises: How Businesses Can Better Prepare for and Manage Mandatory Cyber Reporting Requirements Related to Unauthorized Data Disclosures

Cyber incident reporting requirements have proliferated, raising complicated questions for investigators and legal teams regarding materiality determinations, attorney-client privilege, and law enforcement coordination. Beyond initial reporting, organizations must address data loss and unauthorized disclosures that carry time-sensitive deadlines and resource challenges, and that must be balanced with other business needs. This session explores business challenges and solutions for managing cyber reporting requirements.

Cybersecurity Compliance: Preparing Teleports for EN 18031 and CMMC

Cybersecurity requirements for satellite ground infrastructure are rapidly evolving as governments and regulators introduce new compliance frameworks. Standards such as EN 18031 in Europe and CMMC in the United States are expected to significantly impact how teleport operators design, operate, and secure their networks. This session examines what’s coming and how to prepare.
